1994 King Country (6) - 5th try Add Video

94 King Country; 5th Springbok try by James Small. Small handles the ball three times in this movement and score in the opposite wings corner. The Springbok backline was unable to score from set piece in the entire match. This try by the backline resulted from a poor touch finder by the King Country side under pressure. Small fielded the ball, passed it to Theo van Rensburg and doubled around to receive it back. He then ran straight and fast before sending a long skip pass to Kabous van der Westhuizen on the opposite wing. When Kabous straightened-up FA Meiring doubles around took the pass from Kabous gave one or two steps to the outside before stepping inwards and slowing down to draw the defence. Meiring then passed to Small who came doubling around heading for the left wing corner. He had some work to do but was up to the task and scored right on the touchline. Would have resulted in a video ref check today.
