1994 King Country (5) - Penalty try and 4th Springbok try Add Video

This clip shows the problems the Springbok backline had on this tour as well as the problem the team had with discipline. Both aspects that would cost them the series. Clip starts with the backline trying to run from set piece but lying to flat and running too lateral. King Countries left wing the 98 kg Jason Wells intercepted but he got chased down by FA Meiring. he throw the ball backwards but the chasing Jannie Claassens got it and turned before getting tackled. Claassens then got penalised for holding onto the ball on ground (at least that's what I think the penalty was about). One of the KC forwards tapped and stated to run with the ball right into Wiese who did not fall back. The ref immediately awarded a penalty try. A bit of a harsh decision but the result of the South Africans (Wiese in particular) having been warned 4 times already for not falling back after penalties. This incensed the Springboks and they attacked with vigour right from the kick off and scored soon afterwards when they scrummed strongly allowing Straeuli to pick up and drive over.
