The McLook rugby collection

About Me

I started my collection of rugby pictures, book, video tapes and recordings in 1970.

As I grew older I wanted to know more about the tours of yesteryear and the old heroes. I wanted a objective view and not hero worship so I started to collect and read about the history of SA rugby. Fortunatly there were people like Maxwell Price, Terry McLean, Rex Sweet, AC Parker, Chris Greyvenstein, Gabriel David, Mark Nicholls and Winston McCarthy who recorded the history as it happened and whose reading have provided me with many hours of joy.

This website is essentially my personal collection in electronic format with some written commentary of information about matches and players. Were possible I add video material of tries and incidents.  The website is of course a hobby and not my full time job so its a work in progress.

I live in New Zealand but have an undying connection with home through a family history spanning back to 1691 when the first of our clan settled in Africa. All my family still lives in South Africa including some ex-Springbok cousins.

Magnificent website. There seems to be a lot of kiwi members for a South African topic?

Cheers mate,

So it is 1986 for the Cavaliers

1994 score should read 2 wins for NZ and a draw

1996 should read 2 wins for NZ and 1 win for SA

Hi mate,

Hope you don't mind the change of my profile name!

I just noticed on the home page a couple of errors - Cavaliers Tour should be dated 1986 - if it had been 1984 the result may have been different.

Also, the 1994 result should read 2 -0 to NZ with 1 draw.
