Springboks vs World XV First Test 1989 The South African Rugby Board celebrated its centenary in 1989 and as part of the celebrations, a World XV toured South Africa to play against provincial teams as well as the Springboks over two tests. Full test colours were given to the Springboks, but not to the World XV. Here are some highlights from the first test played at Newlands. The Boks scraped home 20 - 19. Watch for Doc Craven footage at the beginning. This is further proof if needed that the Rugby sanctions and isolation failed.
Springboks vs World XV Second Test 1989 After an unconvincing win in the first test, the Boks looked better in the second test at Ellispark. Only a couple of late scores made the score look better for the World XV, but the Boks were too strong, winning 22 - 16.
